Certification
All members of our team are trained and receive certification in every aspect of Release of Information. We encourage external credential or degree granting continuing education and provide tuition reimbursement for all of our people.
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
We adhere to all current HIPAA standards for medical records business associates. We provide our team with initial and ongoing privacy training. This is similar to that which healthcare providers are required to provide to their workforce. We conduct an extensive orientation program for all new staff members. This includes significant education concerning privacy policies. Since security and confidentiality are important to us and our clients, we conduct extensive background checks on all Sharecare Health Data Services employees. In many cases, we provide portions of our HIPAA annual training curriculum to our clients as part of our service.
CRIS (Certified Release of Information Specialists)
We invest in CRIS-certification from the Association of Health Information Outsourcing Services (AHIOS) for all members of our team who are directly involved in medical records processing. The AHIOS Institute Certificate Program is a rigorous exam that tests knowledge about how to protect the confidentiality of patients’ personal health information when that information is released to requestors. We require that all team members take this exam every two years.
Training & Education
We conduct ongoing training for our employees in all areas of our business. Sharecare Health Data Services provides HIPAA/HITECH/Omnibus, Privacy / ROI training initially to all new employees, as well as in-field training and continuing education. We stay informed about the latest developments in the constantly evolving health care industry. We conduct research in current legislative and technical issues to provide our clients with relevant expertise and support.
